New Release from Bianca Sarble

Freewill , WY, is a quintessential American small town. A town rich in Wild West history, interesting locals and smokin’ hot cowboys. A place surrounded by a combination of picturesque mountainous ranges, rolling plains, as well as being home to unique wildlife. So, as an Australian, it was the obvious choice of where my first piece of writing would be set!

Of course!

There is something special about the spirit of a small town, and it’s the same whether it’s in the US, Australia or Timbuktu. It’s a sense of familiarity, which can be a blessing or a curse. A blessing when you get to the checkout after you’ve just spent an hour in the supermarket with two screaming children and you’ve forgotten your wallet. A curse when you have a coffee with a friend of the opposite sex and within the hour it’s across town that you’re eloping in a month and possibly already pregnant.

Yes, there’s a vast difference between the Aussie outback and Wyoming, but when I imagine a cowboy, he has a sexy twang, beautiful eyes under his Stetson and spends his time on a ranch. It wouldn’t hurt if the music coming from his beat up Chevy was Blake Shelton or Garth Brooks either.

That’s how Tash Hathaway, owner of Freewill Flower Garden, likes them as well. She’s come home to Freewill to make her dream of running her own flower shop a reality as well as finding Mr. Right. The small town life is limiting her options however, and even internet dating is turning up duds instead of studs. Because of that, she embarks on a husband seeking hiatus. That is…until Nathan Davis comes along to feature in her cowboy fantasies.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy taking a trip to Freewill and getting to know Tash and Nathan.

More

BLURB:
Tash Hathaway has moved back to Freewill to open her own flower shop—Freewill Flower Garden. She is actively seeking a man to fill her Mr. Right vacancy and has even signed up to find him online. But when she finds duds instead of studs Cassi, Tash's best friend, convinces her to take a break and live a little, make some of her cowboy fantasies come true before settling down.

When his riding partner is injured, Nathan Davis goes home for a break from the PRCA circuit. He returns to find his life changing in ways he's not ready for. Nor does he expect the distraction of a beautiful small town girl who fulfills his wildest fantasies.

Tash and Nathan collide in a lust-filled bubble, but neither of them are prepared when things get serious. Can love come to full bloom between two people determined to have a temporary bit of fun?

Desiree Holt on Wyoming

When you’re in Freewill, Wyoming, after a good lunch at Wyoming Eats, step across the street to Nina Foster Massie’s Books and More and bone up on the history of Wyoming and get some interesting facts.

Wyoming became the 44th state to join the union in 1890. Wyoming was the first U.S. state to allow women to vote--an achievement that represented one of the early victories of the American women’s suffrage movement. Today, although it is the 10th largest state by area, Wyoming has the smallest population of all the states, with just over 550,000 residents.

The state is home to most of Yellowstone National Park, one of the most popular national parks in the country. Millions of tourists visit Wyoming every year to see the geyser Old Faithful and the Grand Prismatic Spring, the largest hot spring in the country, as well as a variety of wildlife including moose, elk, bighorn sheep, American bison, wolves, coyotes, eagles, black bears and grizzly bears.
The first historians to describe future Wyoming were Washington Irving and Francis Parkman. Irving took the journals of Captain Booneville and wrote a masterpiece; Parkman wrote about his trip over the Oregon Trail in 1846. Irving was a literary giant and Parkman a historian with a novelists flare for writing well and weaving a masterful story in the process. They were both the beginnings of what would be a long line of historians.

On the crest of Medicine Mountain, 40 miles east of Lovell, Wyoming, is located the Medicine Wheel which has 28 spokes and a circumference of 245 feet. This was an ancient shrine built of stone by the hands of some forgotten tribe. A Crow chief has been reputed as saying, "It was built before the light came by people who had no iron." This prehistoric relic still remains one of Wyoming's unsolved puzzles.

More
Southwest of Lusk, covering an area of 400 square miles, are the remains of prehistoric stone quarries known as the "Spanish Diggings." Here is mute evidence of strenuous labor performed by many prehistoric groups at different times. Quartzite, jasper and agate were mined. Artifacts of this Wyoming material have been found as far away as the Ohio and Mississippi Valleys.

More
The historic Indians in Wyoming were nomadic tribes known as the Plains Indians and were made up of many different tribes. Among them the Abenaki Indians, whose dream legends formed part of the plot in my book, Soul Dreams. Of all of these tribes, the Cheyenne and Sioux were the last of the Indians to be controlled and placed on reservations. The Plains Indians were the hunters, warriors and religious leaders of their tribes, therefore, their crafts were related to these occupations. Both men and women were artists and craftsmen traditionally, each producing articles for everyday use as well as for ceremonial purposes. Usually, quilling and beading were done by women and carving was done by the men.

Wyoming also has a long history of ranching and cowboys. Today you’ll find ranches all the in size from the Medicine Bend ranch which is 950 acres to the Red Reflet Ranch at 27000 acres. Hike through the Laramie Mountains and read about the ghost stories.
Nina has her book store on line but you need the secret password. Perhaps you can find it in one of the Freewill, Wyoming books in the Western Escapes series. Put up your feet and pull up a cowboy. You’ll love it.

Author KevaD on Freewill, Wyoming

There’s intrinsic beauty in the artistry required to create a community like Freewill, Wyoming. First, the person behind the scenes has to paint a vivid picture of the town’s geographic location on the edge of mountains and still within a stone’s throw of pastures capable of supporting horse and cattle ranches.

Next come the foundation businesses that provide the residents with common ground and meeting places; a small town friendly ambiance a reader can return to time and again and feel like he or she is coming home to a familiar setting.

Finally, every town has its memorable characters who hang out on the corner, in the café, or on the park bench in front of the drug store, and always have a wave or a bit of gossip to share. Politicians remain in office until the next election. The family who built the bank still owns it. The restaurant’s menu hasn’t had a new entrée in years. The schedule of community events designed to pull in tourists is available for all to review.

However, each one of those concrete elements must afford contributing authors the freedom to explore their own imaginations and implant new characters, plots, and appropriate locales. In other words, the town of Freewill must be firm enough to maintain consistency, and yet liquid enough to mold to the visiting author’s vision. Change without change.

More
And somehow, the folks behind the scenes of Western Escape have provided authors just such a canvas on which to introduce new characters who are old friends or relatives, sometimes mysterious strangers who set tongues wagging, and story lines that are fresh and unchained within what could be a monotonous cage for imagination if not handled properly. This affords readers stories that aren’t canned replays of previous books. New authors mean new blood and a new way of viewing the town and its inhabitants within each offering.

The Western Escape line isn’t trite nor expected. Each book is an original take on an established community, its surroundings and history. So, freshen your drink, kick off your shoes, put your feet up, and get ready for some fun, exciting, often sexy, and never repetitive storytelling.

We hope you enjoy your stay here in Freewill. Oh! Be sure to tip the waitress. She has an attitude.

KevaD's Kantu's Heart launches readers into Freewill's past while offering a glimpse of today through characters that will surprise and thrill. Don't miss this one.

Blurb:

Before the ice age, warrior Kantu lost his tribe, his mate Sanda, and his life to a vicious band of cannibals led by his most powerful enemy. He awakens in a world beyond his comprehension only to find his mate in the arms of her killer. Misery and strength meld into one goal—to win back his heart and kill his enemy.

With a nudge from her gentle guardian, Sandra Harn travels to Freewill, WY, looking for bargains at the annual rummage sale and, hopefully, answers to her mysterious past. Once there, visions of a time before the town existed make her question her sanity. When an exotic stranger with flowing raven hair and a body she can’t resist tries to kill her companion, logic tells her to run, but her heart and body have other ideas.

Can two hearts find their way across time or will fate be satisfied once justice is served?

Another Western? How did this happen??

Hey peeps! Cassandra Dean here, ready to tell you all about The Diamond Series and the second book, FOOL’S GOLD.

Wow, book 2 in a series I never thought I would write. Crazy, hey? As you may know, I really like watching westerns on the TV and the place that plays the movies, but I’ve never thought of writing my own. So when my editor suggest I write for Decadent Publishing’s Western Escape, I was a bit hesitant as I wasn’t sure I could do the genre justice. I mean, I hear English voices in my head real good, but Old American West ones? Not so much. However, I went away, had a bit of a think, and came up with book 1 of the series, ROUGH DIAMOND!

After ROUGH DIAMOND was finished, I thought that was it. Alice and Rupert had their happily ever after and though I could now hear Western voices in my head, I thought one book would be it. However, the West is seductive, my friends. Two secondary characters, Pearl and Ethan, were unduly antagonistic to each other in ROUGH DIAMOND and I was all-fired curious as to why this was so. The tendrils of a new story formed and before I knew it, FOOL’S GOLD was here!

FOOL’S GOLD is Christmas at the Diamond Saloon in Freewill, Wyoming. Pearl is now the manager of the Diamond while the owner, Alice, is away. It’s Christmas Eve and all she wants to do is wait out the blizzard that’s blowing their way in an unusually empty saloon, curled up in bed with a whiskey and a French magazine. A pounding on the Diamond’s door robs her of such thoughts, and when she opens the saloon to whoever is doing the pounding, she’s all het up to see it’s the overwhelmingly annoying Ethan Garret. Before she can get him to leave again, the blizzard blows in and the two of them are trapped alone in an empty saloon...Shenanigans ensue :)

Here’s the blurb, peeps!

Christmas in Freewill

Christmas Eve, the Diamond Saloon is empty of its people, and Pearl la Monte has a hankering to retire early. A pounding at the Diamond’s door rids her of such a fool notion. Her irritation rises when she sees the prissy, polite-like Garrett standing outside.

Ethan Garrett has a powerful need to gain succor. When the saloon’s voluptuous redheaded singer scowls at him from the threshold of the Diamond, he doesn’t stop to think on how his ire at her has disappeared. Or how he just wants to spend some time in her company.

When a blizzard storms in, trapping them, will they spend their time arguing or find their irritation for each other disguises something more?

Sounds pretty nifty, right? Crazily enough, I’m planning on writing number three. Tentatively entitled EMERALD SEA, this story is very much in progress. I think there may be a gunslinger, and a chorus girl. Maybe. Who knows, anything is possible at this stage!

Thanks so much for hanging with me, peeps, and I hope you’ll check out the Diamond Saloon and her people.

Digging the Dirt

Amy Harris, columnist for the Freewill Herald, pushed open the door to Books and More, the bell attached to it send out a crisp jingle. The air was scented with the aroma of fresh sugar cookies and she inhaled deeply. She hoped no one offered her one because she’d probably eat the entire plate. Or maybe she’d need them for courage to conduct her interview.
“Nobody’s seen that recluse on the edge of town,” her boss told her. “Sheriff Blackwater says Nina Foster deals with him for books, so she must have contact with him. Get over there and pry information out of her.”
Amy had protested at first. “That’s personal. No one wants me digging into their personal lives.”
“Be tactful about it.”
She’d laughed. “Oh, yeah. Right. Tactful. While I’m trying to pry secrets of her.”
“I want to include it in this series of holiday profiles,” he insisted. “Get your jacket and get going.”
So here she was, hoping she didn’t appear as nervous as she was.
“Well, Amy!” Nina came out from behind the counter. “How nice to see you. Looking for a book? Or a gift for someone?”
“Actually.” Amy wet her lips. “Actually, I thought maybe we could chat for a few minutes.”
“Chat?” The welcoming look on Nina’s face disappeared. “About what?”
“About Freewill’s mysterious resident, Blake Massie.”
Now Nina’s look was downright unfriendly. “I don’t discuss my customers with anyone. If you want to know about Blake call him yourself.”
Amy flipped a hand in the air. “Now you know he won’t talk to me. I’ve tried to get that guy who works for him, Grange, to answer some questions, but he just hangs up on me.”
“Well, there you go.” She moved into the reading nook and lifted a plate from the table. “Here. Have a cookie.”
“Come on, Nina,” Amy begged. “Just a little something. What does he like to read? Why doesn’t he come pick the books up himself? Everyone in town knows you deliver them to his house.”
She lifted an eyebrow. “Everyone does? I didn’t realize the population had so little to do they kept tabs on my customers.”
Amy took a step closer. “Everyone loves a mystery, that’s what it is. Why is he such a recluse? Why doesn’t he ever come to town? In two years he’s never left that house.”
“And that’s his business.” Nina took a cookie for herself and bit off an edge of it. “Tell your boss to dig into someone else’s life.”
“But what if he’s a millionaire hiding from his heirs? Or a famous movie star who needs to get out of the public eye.” A thought popped into her brain. “Maybe he’s hiding from the paparazzi, and he doesn’t think they’ll find him here.”
“Well, if that’s the truth then he’s right. No one has come sniffing around after him.”
“You talk to him on the phone. What kind of voice does he have? I’ll bet it’s deep and just the least little bit raspy.” Amy felt a shiver of pleasure skate over her. “Ooh, just the kind of voice I love.”
“Good for you.”
At that moment a bell rang on Nina’s computer, and she hurried over to it. Amy took a couple of steps to the edge of the counter and craned her neck. In the sideways view of the computer screen she made out an Instant Message announcement, the IM name Blake and a few words.
Hot damn!
Nina was IMing with the reclusive Mr. Massie. What were they talking about? Surely not just books. Rumor had it—and rumor in Freewill was usually gospel—that he’d been buying books from her for several weeks. Something had to be going on.
Nina typed something on her keyboard then turned the monitor so the screen was no longer visible.
“Anything else?” she asked in a cool voice.
“Um, no, I guess not at the moment.” She filched a cookie. “But I’m not finished looking for answers. Inquiring minds want to know.”
Nina sighed. “Amy, let me give you and that grouch of a boss you work for some advice. Leave Blake Massie alone, Go pester someone else. Thanksgiving’s almost here and then comes Christmas. Let the man enjoy his holidays in peace. I can’t tell you anything.”
“Uh huh. Whatever you say.” She grabbed another cookie and headed for the door. “But my nose tells me there’s more going on here than book ordering.”
Nina just stared at her. “Maybe. But it’s nobody’s business but mine and Blake’s.”
And mine, Amy, thought, as the bell jingled behind her. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if the recluse and the lonely book store owner had something going? Ooh, too wonderful, she thought. Maybe a love story for the holidays. That would just be the icing on the cake.
